The filter technology of a wet separator usually consists of the following stages: 1. water basin 2. stainless steel mesh filter (droplet separator) 3. HEPA H14 filter (optional)

Wet scrubbers or wet scrubbers are not only suitable for grinding work, but also for deburring, sawing, cutting, separating, polishing and many other processes that generate flying sparks.

Wet separators are particularly suitable for dusts and chips that are combustible and explosive. Wet separators also effectively filter sticky and moist particles from the process air. By using water instead of dry filters, the filter lamellas cannot stick together.

Wet separators use water as a filter medium. This has the advantage that sparks are quickly extinguished and, unlike dry separators, the filters used cannot catch fire. Thanks to our patented flow division, the air passes through several chambers and the pollutants are filtered out of the air in a particularly energy-efficient manner. The second filter stage also consists of non-combustible stainless steel mesh filters, which we have specially developed and which can be reused several times. This saves costs and protects the environment.

For the extraction and separation of combustible particles such as aluminum dust, for example. Extraction systems must be built according to special specifications, so-called ATEX regulations. As a manufacturer of ATEX wet separators, safe operation and the protection of employees is our top priority. This is why ABSAUGWERK’s ATEX wet separators are designed according to the primary explosion protection principle and have special ATEX components installed:  

• Air speed in the pipe min. > > 20 m/s
• Negative pressure and volume flow monitoring
• Motor according to ATEX zone 22
• Construction free of ignition sources and conductive
• No ex-zones during operation
• All electrical components installed ATEX-compliant
• Electrical cabinet outside the system

Regardless of which operating principle a wet separator uses, due to the use of water as the main filter, indoor installation is recommended to eliminate the risk of freezing in winter. If there is not enough space in the hall to install the wet separator, it can also be placed outside with an enclosure.
